First, a quick aside to pass along my thanks to Phil GÂ for inviting me to be a part of the 100 Bloggers community - I look forward to participating in our collective exploration of personal growth and development.
To that end, I wanted to pick up on Rebecca’s post earlier today. It made me think back about 25 years, to when I was about to graduate college and was interviewing for jobs. It seemed the favorite question of most of the interviewers was this: “Where do you think you’ll be 5 years from now?”   I didn’t dwell on it at the time, but essentially they were asking me for a definition of success (and of course to reveal my ambitions). I know they expected much more detailed and thourogh responses, but here is what I said - “I just want to be happy with what I was doing at the time”. You can imagine that a lot of the questioners didn’t know how to work with that. 25 years on, that seemingly off the cuff response still resonates as I continue my personal journey - more than anything else, I want to experience the joy of the journey. I want to get out of bed every day excited about the day ahead, whether it is business or pleasure. Is that too simplistic? I’d sure be interested in other points of view.  How would you answer that 5 year question?

What is success? First, I think we need to do what we love. This means discovering what we are talented at and doing our very best at that particular thing. Second, we must love what we do. This means changing our attitudes about work. Work is supposed to be fun.
