June 5th, on another site, I posted:
I noticed this morning that William Parry’s blog is worth $2,822.70. The last time I checked, mine is worth nothing!
Something is definitely wrong here. Somebody is mad at me, out to get me, treats me unfairly, probably jealous of my fabulous blog and its remarkable readers, and afraid the world market will be affected if the true value of my site is ever revealed.
I’m trying to decide whether to blame this on Democrats or on Republicans, but many days there’s just not much difference, so I’m ambivalent about that decision. Is it a gender issue?–William is a man, (I am supposing), and I a woman, (I am sure).
It probably is because William is much more geeky than am I, for I readily admit I even have trouble removing and placing on a new vacuum cleaner bag, let alone understanding html, incoming links, outgoing links, uploading, downloading, the digg effect, tagging, search engines and their idiosyncrasies, flash, Technorati decisions, pinging, page ranks, Opera, Firefox, rss (yeah, tell me again it stands for really simple something or other!) xfn, atom, skins, richtext editor, IE, and post slugging! For on William’s blog, he discusses xtemplates, PHP Templating Library, Ajax/Javascript toolkit, Script.aculo.us,xfn, and such as that. That’s it–he’s the geeky one. That’s the reason.
But wait! After further contemplation, I have determined that the answer to his blog being worth infinitely more than mine is revealed in his post of May 10th. William, living with four “flatmates,” emerged from the shower to discover he had forgotten a towel. Peering furtively around the bathroom door and down the long corridor, he decided to make a dash for it…in his altogether birthday suit.
Yep, that’s it. That’s why William Parry’s blog is worth $2,822.70 and mine is worth nothing, $0.00, zero, zap, nada, nil. I think I’m annoyed.
On June 12th, as I roamed the blogosphere, once again I came to the provocative invitation to have my blog appraised, and once again, I typed in my worthless blog’s address. Surprise! My blog was now worth $55,324.92. Before the mysterious someones could change their minds, I cut that good-looking code, traveled to my hitherto worthless blog, and pasted on its new value sticker.
I haven’t a clue as to what happened during the week of June 5-June 12th. Happy for it, though, and I must tell you that I did not resist bragging to William Parry. (My conscience demands my telling you that Google still ranks me a 0. Silly people.)
Speaking of happy–To you who have earned the title, have a happy Father’s Day.
